My heart goes out to all of you who suffer from chronic pain. I know there are no words that can accurately describe what you are going through. I started this chapter because I want to honor you, and I want you to know that in my mind, you are all great heroes. Despite all your pain, you still get up, you still face life, and you still somehow find the strength to help others. I wrote the poem below after a serious accident. I had a couple of surgeries, and I was in intense pain. Chronic pain is horrible, yet it teaches us to approach life with a different perspective.
One day in my bedroom I turned on the light, and that’s when I saw it. What a scary sight!...
I know YOU may be suffering now, I see you curled up by the wall, and the only thing I CAN do, is...
It is not my weakness, it is my uniqueness.
