Making Ourselves and Our Surroundings BETTER
Making Ourselves and Our Surroundings BETTER
Welcome to The Healing Poems, where words offer deeper understanding, creative solutions, and a touch of humor to life’s ups and downs. I’ve been writing poetry since I was six, using it as a way to bring light to difficult moments. There was no greater joy for me than seeing that I eased someone's pain, even just a little. As I grew older and faced my own hardships, my strong desire to ease suffering led my poems to evolve into a powerful yet enjoyable tool for personal healing and self-mastery. They became my own guides on the journey to better health, greater success, and a happier life.
For this journal, I have selected poems that offer insight, self-discovery, and sometimes a much-needed laugh, all in the spirit of 'Making Ourselves and Our Surroundings BETTER.' Poems are organized by topics/chapters, and some are accompanied by questions for personal reflection to guide you in exploring your own experiences.
If you have a poem you’d like to recommend or submit, please send it to [email protected], and specify which section it best fits."

Example: Self-Criticism
THE TWO OF ME
Whenever I fail, or say something wrong, Eat too much or spill some tea, I immediately feel the pressure inside, I get embarrassed and get mad—at me. “You have to get off your own back,” Said my good friend, Marie. And thus I learned why I felt so heavy, I’ve been carrying the two of me. Liliana Kohann ©Artpeace 2002 |
Replacing the Inner-Critic with a Constructive Coach
As a master of self-blaming, I tended to put myself down—a lot, often unaware that that's what I was doing. When my friend told me that I needed to get off my own back, I suddenly saw the image that I drew above. I then wrote this little poem. In the process of creating this, I felt some sort of separation that was happening in my mind... To read more click here.
Poems are like songs
One poem can speak many different languages. It depends how it is read. I believe that every good poem has its own heartbeat. It is such a wonderful feeling when that heartbeat is found, felt, and expressed. Poems are like songs. When they are expressed, performed, and not just read like a newspaper, they can truly touch one's heart.
I can only hope that you can find here something that will bring you joy, give you an idea, move you in the right direction— the direction of sunlight in your life. Just like in the song below, let this site be "...a safe place you always can come to and rest..."
